TECO C5000 Retractable Probe
This sensor is a retractable mechanical shear force sensor complete with isolation valve, that enables cleaning, repair or replacement without an outage. The sensor reacts to changes in the network strength of a particular furnish. When fibers encounter an obstruction to their flow, they have to shear or tear apart in order to pass. The amount of force necessary to separate the fibers is a direct function of consistency.

Applications
With no moving parts, and an angled leading edge, the C5000 sheds foreign objects easily and is very easy to maintain, making it an excellent choice for a stable, repeatable consistency measurement in hard to measure applications such as recycle furnishes.
The sensor is also designed as a remotely mounted unit to be used in combination with TECO’s TMC6000 Microprocessor Transmitter, making C5000 sensor an excellent choice for high vibration, high temperature, or inaccessible applications.
